Functional Independence Measure (FIM)

Registered FIM (Functional Independence measure) assessor

The FIM instrument is a basic indicator of the severity of the disability. The functional ability of a patient changes during rehabilitation and the FIM instrument is used to track those changes. Functional change is a key outcome measure of rehabilitation episodes.

Functional Assessments

Evaluation and diagnosis of physical, psychological and cognitive dysfunction and how it impacts clients’ participation in everyday activities. Assessments and reports are often required to determine the level of funding and support/care required to safely look after clients with neurological conditions.

Cognitive assessment

Occupational therapists complete cognitive screening and standardised assessments to determine which cognitive function has been affected by a neurological condition.

These assessments can determine deficits and assist in implementing strategies required to improve clients’ quality of life.

NDIS pre-planning applications

Occupational therapy assessments determine the level of functional limitation and how this impacts a person’s ability to complete daily tasks.
A multidisciplinary team completes forms/funding application, submit forms and educates clients regarding NDIS application process and supports available.
